The best waterfalls in Nanshan District, Shenzhen

Most of what gets recommended on Tanglang Mountain is the climb. Forty minutes of steps to Jimu Pavilion, sunset views over Futian's skyline, the whole "release your week's stress" pitch that shows up on every Shenzhen hiking list. We went for something else entirely and ended up spending almost the whole day there without going near the summit trail.

There's a waterfall at the base of the mountain, in the Shenyun Valley section of Tanglang Mountain Country Park, and getting to it barely counts as hiking. We parked at the P2 lot by Shenyun Cultural and Sports Park and were at the falls in under fifteen minutes, most of it on a flat, wide path you could push a stroller down. There's one short stretch of steps right before the falls themselves. That's it.
