The best waterfalls in Guangxi

Just got back from Detian Falls (德天瀑布) and hit basically every pitfall there is to hit. Here's the no-nonsense guide I wish I'd had — skip the detours, skip the queues, skip the overpriced stuff.

Tickets & Booking Standard combo ticket: around 110–115 RMB per adult, which bundles the entrance fee with the mandatory sightseeing shuttle bus. You'll want this — the scenic area stretches close to 9 km, and you're not walking that. Discounted tickets: students and seniors get a reduced rate; children under 1.2 m and seniors over 65 get free entrance but still need to pay for the shuttle bus separately (around 35 RMB). Discount tiers and exact prices have shifted a bit across different sources I checked, so it's worth confirming the current rate on the official channel before you go, or having your guesthouse book it for you. Booking: book a day ahead if you can, and bring your ID — entry is checked against it (this is a border area, so ID checks happen more than once). Be wary of very cheap "day tour" packages — many are shopping tours in disguise that eat into your actual sightseeing time. Bring: a waterproof bag or dry pouch, a light rain poncho, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and your ID (needed for border-area checks). Once you step off the bamboo raft, don't backtrack — it's a one-way route, so keep moving forward/upward.
