This is Bridal Veil Falls, located west of Hamilton, about a one-hour drive away. As the name suggests, the waterfall really does look like a bridal veil—delicate and flowing, almost like a soft curtain of water. When we arrived, there was no one around at all. Even the entrance was easy to miss if not for the roadside parking markings—it didn’t even immediately feel like a proper lookout point. The walking track is very friendly and only takes about 10 minutes to reach the top viewing platform. There are multiple viewpoints along the way, including the top, middle, and base. Reaching the bottom takes less than 20 minutes in total, with a mix of stairs and gravel paths. The vertical drop is quite impressive, and on a sunny day the mist catches the light beautifully, often forming rainbows in the spray. Personally, I think it would be an amazing spot for a proposal if there were a proper accessible platform at the base—it would be incredibly atmospheric. Nearby, the road toward Raglan offers views of the coastline and farmland, making it a very relaxing scenic drive. In the end, it really feels like New Zealand makes it easy to access these places—parking is right where it needs to be, and you just feel lucky to be there.
