Today we checked off the filming location of Jurassic Park – Chamarel Waterfall + Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Park. It takes about 30 minutes from The St. Regis, and the whole drive is mountain roads. The roads are super narrow. On the way back from these two spots, these two places are a bit boring and mainly just photo stops, since we were already here, might as well check them off. At Chamarel Waterfall, there is also a spot where you need to climb up the hill yourself to take photos. Because it was too hot and sunny, we just took a few quick shots and left. On the way to Seven Colored Earth Park, once you drive into the area, you will pass this waterfall first. There is a free parking area next to it. The waterfall has two viewpoints — one near the parking lot, and another higher up on the hillside which you can reach by stairs. Most visitors choose the higher viewpoint because you can see the full view of the waterfall from there. Standing there, you are surrounded by mountains with no rivers, lakes, or sea in sight, and then suddenly this stream drops straight down from the mountaintop, which makes it feel especially striking. • Drop: about 100m (≈ height of the Statue of Liberty), the tallest single-drop waterfall on the island • Water source: Rivière Saint-Denis, with the strongest flow during the rainy season (Dec–Apr), sometimes splitting into two streams • Filming location: movies like Jurassic Park, with tropical rainforest + basalt cliffs, very raw and natural • Viewpoints: upper and lower decks — the upper one gives a full panoramic view, the lower one is closer and much louder with the sound of water Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Park is basically a patch of red earth + a few giant tortoises But the burgers, fries, and ice cream on the hill were surprisingly delicious
