Waterfall height

Did this one as part of a Makanthon trip. Easy enough that a total beginner could do it, which is basically what half our group was. No permit needed either, that's always a plus. Lata Gapi Waterfall, Serendah About 1 hour from PJ Whole thing took us around 3 hours including picnic and photos Not a hard trail, beginners are fine No permit The water isn't super clear, more of a regular river colour, but it's fine, didn't bother anyone. Honestly I'd go back. Already thinking about when. We parked on the roadside and walked up. Takes about 40 minutes to reach the falls if you don't stop much. First bit is a short dirt path, then you go into thick forest, then you start crossing the stream — more than once, not just one crossing. After that there's a short slope, not steep, just a bit of a grind. Then you see the stream curve off on the right and you're basically there. Wear water shoes. Or slippers if you don't have those, just be a bit careful. There's no avoiding getting your feet wet at some point so don't bother trying to keep your shoes dry. No toilet up there, so sort that out before you go. Standing right under the falls, water just pounding down on you — only one word for it, it's amazing. We set up our picnic directly underneath it and cooked instant noodles right there, kept adding water to the pot while we ate because why not. So refreshing. In the middle of the falls (this was the shot in photo 5) you really feel the water hit and it's like getting your whole soul washed clean, shoulders just drop, all the tension gone. It's also really photogenic. Didn't matter how we shot it, it looked good. No pool here by the way — it's just the waterfall itself, and a small stream at the bottom where you can dip your feet. Don't come expecting a swimming hole. Drive out and the first thing at the junction is a McDonald's, so that's an option if you want food after. Otherwise Ulu Yam is close by, good for lor mee, and Batang Kali is maybe another 10 minutes if you want more choices. Took us about an hour to get to the top on one of our trips. Another time we got caught in rain near the top, right when we were almost there, and we just kept going anyway, didn't turn back. Soaked a bit, but once you see the falls it's worth it. Nature does its thing, very healing, honestly. Lots of small stream crossings along the way, some over round river rocks, so watch your footing — and yeah, shoes will get wet, there's no avoiding it.
