Finally got to see the waterfall that was in our school textbooks. It’s about a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Toronto. There’s no entrance fee, and you can already enjoy the view from the roadside. If you want to get close on the boat tour, it costs a little over CAD 40 per person. The line looked long, but it moved surprisingly fast. There’s also a zipline experience, which looked pretty exciting, though a bit more expensive at around CAD 59. Simple Niagara Falls itinerary For reference: After lunch, drive over and park at the parking lot shown in photo 3 for overnight parking. Walk along the falls pathway, try one or two attractions, relax in the park, spend some time at the amusement area, have dinner near the parking lot, grab your belongings from the car and walk to the hotel. Enjoy the sunset, fireworks, and sunrise from the hotel. The next morning, walk back to the parking lot and drive home. Most of the tips are already in the 18 photos, but here are a few more: The boat cruise and fireworks only operate during several months after May, so check the opening dates before you go. Fireworks are at 10 pm every night and last about five minutes. They are best viewed from across from the smaller falls. For sunrise, it’s worth booking a falls-view hotel. Weekend rates are usually around CAD 500+, but if you try different dates, you can sometimes find rooms for just over CAD 200. Weather matters a lot. On sunny days, the water looks bright blue, and rainbows often appear in the afternoon. The official Niagara Falls parking lots are expensive. Parking near the tower area is more affordable, though walking to the falls involves some uphill and downhill sections, so try to avoid too many back-and-forth trips. Hotel parking is also very expensive, around CAD 50. Parking overnight near the tower area and walking about 10 minutes to the hotel is more economical. Even though hotels look right next to Horseshoe Falls on the map, it actually takes more than 20 minutes to walk because you have to come down from the tower area. Buy tickets from the official website in advance. You can also buy them on-site, but there may be lines. For individual attractions, you choose a time slot when booking. For package tickets, you may need to make reservations at Table Rock first and then validate the tickets at each attraction. I’m not completely sure, so it’s worth checking. If you have plenty of time, bring a mat and relax in the park by the falls for a while. It’s a nice way to spend the afternoon. If you want to visit Niagara-on-the-Lake, you’ll need to drive about another 30 minutes north from Niagara Falls. There are places like the Floral Clock and other spots worth seeing. One or two hours is enough. Parking is paid, but if you have extra time, it’s worth considering. For example, spend the morning in the town and the afternoon at the falls.
