Waterfall height

This time at Waterfall Gully, we only visited two waterfalls. Next time, we’ll definitely challenge ourselves with the hike to Mount Lofty Summit. With plenty of recent rain, the waterfalls were looking spectacular. You can even spot rainbows in the mist up close. Hiking Route The classic trail is the Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty Summit hike. It’s 3.9 km one way, or 7.8 km return. Overall, it’s a fairly challenging Grade 4 hike, with some steep sections and uneven terrain along the way. Most people take around 1.5–3 hours to complete the return trip. However, experienced hikers and trail runners can reach the summit in 30–55 minutes and descend in 25–35 minutes. ### What You'll See Along the Way **Waterfalls** Several waterfalls can be seen along the route. One is located right near the car park and is easy to access, while another is about 500 metres before the climb to Mount Lofty Summit begins. **Wildlife** The area is home to many native Australian animals. During the hike, you may spot koalas lazily resting in eucalyptus trees or kangaroos feeding among the bushes. **Natural Scenery** The trail winds through woodland, creeks, and bushland. Along the way, you'll be surrounded by towering ridges, dense forest, clear streams, and plenty of fresh air. **Summit Views** Once you reach Mount Lofty Summit, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views over Adelaide, including the city's skyline, parklands, and the iconic Adelaide Oval. On clear days, you can even see Glenelg, Port Adelaide, and, in the distance, Kangaroo Island.
