The best waterfalls in Waterview

I didn't actually think Auckland had a waterfall until a friend mentioned this one, almost as an afterthought. Turns out it does, just the one, and it's sitting right behind Unitec in Waterview, a few minutes off Great North Road.

I'll admit I went in expecting basically nothing. Auckland is not exactly known for dramatic scenery inside the city limits, and I figured "the only waterfall in the city" was going to be more of a trickle than a waterfall. It's not huge, to be fair, but it's a proper curtain of water dropping over a rock ledge into a pool, and it's honestly a nice surprise for somewhere this close to the motorway.

The full name is Oakley Creek, or Te Auaunga, and the reserve around it is sometimes called Oakley Creek Esplanade Reserve. There's a viewing platform, a boardwalk, a few picnic tables, and a good amount of bush and birdlife along the walk in, which makes the whole thing feel much further from the city than it actually is.
