On the way back from Ubud to Seminyak, our driver suddenly asked, “Have you seen any waterfalls? I know a place—it’s on the way!” I was wondering how “on the way” it could really be, but when I checked Google Maps, it was clearly quite a detour. Still, when we arrived, I realized that this place called Tegenungan Waterfall was an absolute hidden gem. I didn’t see a single Chinese tourist there—just lots of foreigners. It really felt like a lesser-known spot. The entrance fee was only about 15,000 rupiah. Bali really seems to have waterfalls everywhere. The sunlight around 3 or 4 in the afternoon was perfect, and there was even a full rainbow hanging in front of the falls—a wonderful surprise. The water was fast and refreshingly cool. Standing beneath the waterfall, I felt completely refreshed, with all the heat instantly gone. I almost wanted to jump in for a swim right then and there.
